Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Photospecial (1990)
Me and Mauro Coscia (of the infamous fanzine 'Wooden Nickel') had been collecting Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young photos already for a few years
when we thought about sharing them with other folks.
The major spark which boosted the project took place in November 1988 when I went to California to attend
the CSN&Y gig for the 'Children of Americas' Hungerthon,
a benefit concert organized and hosted by Graham Nash and dj Pete Fornatale
featuring CSN&Y and Jackson Browne.
A few days later, while in Los Angeles, I went to visit renowned West Coast photographer,
Henry Diltz at his place in the Valley and we went through his archives.
He had a lot of stories to tell and many photographs to show me.
Pictures were everywhere, even in the drawers of the kitchen!
A couple of years later - with the significative and generous contribution of Diltz,
who let us use many of his unreleased photographs -
we were finally able to release The Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Photospecial.
The book contains a collection of 148 black & white photographs
and draws on the extensive archives of Henry Diltz, David Tulsky and others sketching the CSN&Y-history over the years.
