  •    THE BLUE FLARES (1)
       (late 1986 - summer 1987)

By the end of 1986, a new band started taking shape from the ashes of The Twylights.
When 'new kid in town' Massimo Rossetti joined Stefano Frollano, Marco Martella, Alberto Mieli and me, our performances had the flavour of a campfire session. Each guy could sing and play guitar, but there was no rhythm section. Not deterred, we began working on the idea of a mainly acoustic combo with original songs and harmony vocals, with which we could easily fill the air.
In a couple of months, we were able to put together a demo, which also featured the unique voice of Gabriella Durand, who guested on one of the tunes. Although economics dictated the use of cheap equipment, the tape was highly praised by Billy Talbot, by WEA Europe representatives and by Frank Gironda, Elliot Roberts' right-hand man at Lookout Management. Alas, nothing happened and those laid-back and mellow tunes never made it to record.
