THE BLUE FLARES (2)
(summer 1987 - spring 1988)
Early summer 1987 saw The Blue Flares at something of a crossroads. Alberto Mieli had embarked on other projects,
and “personal differences” caused Massimo Rossetti's stay to be relatively short. Those who remained felt it was
time to have a fuller sound, so the band could show also its electric side live. While the stool behind the skins
was quickly taken by Emilio Staiola - Frollano's long-time partner in their ballroom band,
Karma - it took several auditions before the band was finally able to find the right bass and keyboard players.
Finally in early 1988, just in time for a couple of gigs, the band began rehearsing steadily with Giovanni Gentile
on bass and Francesco De Simone on keyboards. This line-up didn't last long, though, and after a while the only Blue Flares left were Frollano, Martella and Staiola.
