Giuseppe Slomp, Joe for his friends, is a man in love. In love with his family, in love with music, in love with life.
Standing by him means to be infected by his energy and joy.
Joe discovers music since his childhood: his very first instrument is the voice, then he is exposed to a noisy Giaccaglia organ
and around the age of 13 he learns a few guitar chords and he starts playing. After some lessons of jazz piano with Nino De Rose
as a teacher, Joe begins to play with several groups.
I was lucky to sing with Joe in 1988, for a short period, and every time I was fascinated by the warm tone of his voice
and by his ability to modulate notes.
In 2003, we put together "The California All-Star Revue", an ironic and temporary name for a combo
which includes me, Joe, Andrea Luciani and Luisa Capuani. Sessions are indeed sporadic, but we enjoy the vocal harmonies we are able
to create singing songs from the West-Coast catalogue.
In 2000 Joe released his first CD, which contains some beautiful and personal covers of such songs as A Case Of You
by Joni Mitchell, Guinnevere by David Crosby, So In Love by Curtis Mayfield, All The Way Home by Bruce Springsteen. Absolutely a must-have!
