Marco Martella is the reason why I began playing music. He (and his brother Carlo) gave me the first musical lessons,
showed me a few chords and introduced me to the magic of singing and playing in the company of others.
We loved to work on vocal harmonies and our voices blended very well together, with Marco's rich and warm tone providing a special element in the recipe.
Our major blast was a street gig we played many years ago in London's Covent Garden. With our usual repertoire of Simon & Garfunkel,
Eagles and CSN&Y tunes we soon gathered a crowd of a couple of hundred people listening and applauding their approval.
Notwithstanding the public appreciation, Marco wasn't too fond of performing live, and in fact the most precious memories
I have are centred on our home sessions, where kitchen furniture was the silent listener to our informal jams.
A first-class singer, unfortunately Marco didn't choose singing as his profession and it is a real shame his talent cannot be widely appreciated.
